Welcome to the Vancouver Island Wedding Lady Blog!

Originally, I wanted to do a podcast, but there were four reasons why I scrapped that.

1. I don’t have a techie in my life who would love to help me with that, and there’s A LOT of tech stuff to know;

2. I don’t want to spend the time to figure it all out myself;

3. I don’t have another officiant partner to work with. (I guess I want to be special and have someone ask me to co-host a podcast with them! In a perfect world…)

4. Podcasts have video now. (Shudder!)

So what will this blog be?

I have things to say. I need a space to unload an (unfiltered) accounting of my career as a wedding officiant.

To start, there may be vulgarity. I choose to embrace the words some expert or other who said that swearing builds emotional resilience and helps folks cope with situations that may feel beyond their control. If you’ve ever been to a wedding, or you’re planning a wedding, or you’re recovering from a wedding, you know that your vocabulary can get pretty profane. Swearing is believed to cause a release in physiological and/or psychological stress. (I’m not completely convinced, though, that it’s a sign of superior intellect, as social media memes would suggest!)

There will be lots of exclamation points! I am emphatic! I like to exclaim!

The overall goal is to offer some information about aspects of weddings and some trends, and give you my spin on things.

There will be stories from the officiating experience. They are always from my point of view. I do not claim to represent any other officiant. There will be no names and I will not identify the people I am discussing in any way.

Once again, welcome, and thanks for checking in!
